NBA stands for the National Basketball Association, which is a professional basketball league. The league was founded way back in 1946 and has been a major hit ever since. Over the years, the league has seen some extra-ordinary players that have created history. So for all the NBA fans out there, we bring you the top 10 NBA players of all time. 

1. Michael Jordan

In the first place is an absolute legend of Basketball, Michael Jordan. He has played in 15 NBA seasons and is known to be the greatest NBA player. He popularized the NBA around the world becoming, the global cultural icon in the process. He won the first NBA championship playing for the Bulls in 1991. He has many accomplishments that he earned over the years, starting with having six NBA Finals Most Valuable Player awards, ten scoring titles, First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game selections and, so much more. 

2. LeBron James

Up next, is LeBron James is an American player, that plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. There are frequent debates about comparing him to Michael Jordan over the greatest basketball player of all time. He is the only one in the history of the NBA, to have won NBA championships with three franchises as Finals MVP. Additionally, he has competed for ten NBA finals and won four NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, four Finals MVP Awards, and two Olympic gold medals.

3.Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has played about 20 seasons in the National Basketball Association for teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. While his career was at its peak, he set a record of being NBA”s Most Valuable Player for six-times, a record 19-time NBA All-Star, and 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team member. He established himself as one of the league’s top scorers with his trademark “skyhook” shot. 

4. Bill Russell

Bill Russell played for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1956 to 1969. He has won several titles, prime among those is a 12-time All-Star, 11-NBA championship, five-time NBA Most Valuable Player in his 13-year career. He is known for his shot-blocking, man-to-man defense, and his rebounding abilities. He also has done some notable work on the court and in the Civil Rights Movement for which, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

5. Magic Johnson

In fifth place is Magic Johnson, who is the former president, of basketball operations of the Los Angeles Lakers. He is referred, as the best point guard of all time and one of the greatest players in NBA history. He has played for the Lakers for 13 seasons that earned him three NBA MVP Awards, nine NBA Finals appearances, and twelve All-Star games. Furthermore, Johnson was a part of the 1992 United States men’s Olympic basketball team, which won him an Olympic medal in the year, 1922. 

6. Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain was one of the greatest center players in NBA history. He played for several teams in the NBA namely, Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the only player, to ever score 100 points in a single NBA game. His other achievements include winning two NBA championships, earning four regular-season Most Valuable Player awards, and the Rookie of the Year award.

7. Larry Bird

 Up next is Lary Bird who, along with a player, is also a coach and executive in NBA. Throughout his career, he has earned several nicknames, such as The Hick from French Lick, and Larry Legend. He has achieved 12-time NBA All-Star, and the NBA Most Valuable Player Award three consecutive times. What’s more exciting is that he is the only one he only forward in league history to ever,\ do so. 

8. Tim Duncan

Timothy Theodore Duncan, or simply Tim Ducan, is one of the renowned players and coaches. Popularly known as the Big Fundamental, he is the greatest power forward of all time. Despite being one of the youngest players in NBA history, Ducan managed to have a long list of achievements, to his name. He has earned the NBA Rookie of the Year, a five-time NBA champion, a two-time NBA MVP, a three-time NBA Finals MVP, and a 15-time NBA All-Star. Additionally, he is the only player to be selected for both the All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams for 13 consecutive seasons. 

9. Kobe Bryant

All of us will surely have a heavy heart whenever we have Kobe Bryant in our conversation. He passed away in 2020 due to a tragic accident that left the entire world shook. But today, we look at the honorable achievements he made in the life he lived. He played for the Lakers and them to victory All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams for 13 consecutive seasons. He is the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history, and his 18 All-Star designations are the second-most all-time. He even won two gold medals as a member of the U.S. national team in the Summer Olympics. 

10. Shaquille O’Neal

We end this list with Shaquille O’Neal, who is a former player and a current sports analyst on TNT. In his 19 years career, he played for six different NBA teams becoming one of the great players in history. He gained popularity as the best center in the league and, has also won the Rookie of the Year. Adding on to it, Shaquille also achieved the titles of 15 All-Star Game selections, three All-Star Game MVP awards, three Finals MVP awards, and two scoring titles. He is one of the three players in NBA history to win NBA MVP, All-Star Game MVP, and Finals MVP awards all in the same year.
